Attorney Rozsa Gyene reviews a prenuptial or postnuptial agreement for you, as your own lawyer, for a flat fee of $395. You upload the agreement in your own portal, and her written review comes back to the same portal.

This is general information about the service. It is not advice about your own situation, and reading it does not make this office your lawyer.

What the $395 review covers

The review is one flat fee of $395, quoted before any work begins and stated in the fee agreement you sign first.

It is a review by your own lawyer. Attorney Rozsa Gyene acts for you and for nobody else on the agreement, and puts her advice in writing.

  • A written review of what the agreement does to you, term by term, in plain English.
  • Advice on your rights, including any spousal support term.
  • A review of the final version, and the earliest date you should sign.
  • A certificate for your records confirming that this office reviewed the agreement with you.

Where you have been given an agreement drafted by someone else’s lawyer, this office acts as your own lawyer: a written review of what the agreement does to you, advice on your rights including any spousal support, the earliest date you should sign, and a certificate for your records confirming that this office reviewed the agreement with you.

This office quotes a flat fee before any work begins, and the written fee agreement states what it covers, when each part is earned, and your right to a refund of anything not earned.

What the review does not include

The flat fee is for reviewing and advising. It does not include rewriting the agreement or negotiating changes with the other side or their lawyer. If you want that work done, it is quoted separately before it begins, and nothing is charged for it without your agreement in advance.

If you would rather have a new agreement prepared from the start, that is a separate service: $795 for a prenup, $995 for a prenup with spousal support terms, or $895 for a postnup.

How it works, step by step

Everything happens in your own private portal. There is no appointment to book and nothing to mail.

  • Open a matter and choose the review of an existing agreement.
  • Read and sign the fee agreement, and pay the $395 flat fee online.
  • Upload the agreement, marked as a draft or as the final version, with the date it was received.
  • Your written review is delivered to your portal, and you are emailed when it is there.
  • When the final version arrives, upload it marked as final, with the date it was received.
  • The final version is reviewed against the written review, and you are told the earliest date you should sign and given your certificate.

Who the review is for

Most people who ask for a review are in one of three positions. Each has its own page, linked at the end of this one.

You were handed an agreement written by your partner’s lawyer.

You wrote the agreement yourself, with a template, an online form or an AI tool such as ChatGPT, and want a lawyer to check it before anyone signs.

The wedding is close and the agreement is still not signed.

The review also covers a postnuptial agreement, between people who are already married.

This office acts for one party only. The other party is free to retain any California lawyer they choose, and this office will not advise them.

Send the agreement as soon as you have it

For a prenup, the date that decides the earliest signing day is the day the final version is received, not the wedding date, and the waiting period is counted in calendar days. How the days are counted is set out on the page about the seven-day rule.

So the useful time to start a review is when the first draft arrives. If the review starts on the draft, the final version only has to be checked against advice you already have.

On an agreement signed on or after 1 January 2020, at least seven calendar days must pass between the day a party is first given the final agreement and the day that party signs it, whether or not that party has a lawyer. Fam. Code, § 1615, subd. (c)(2)(B)
